Time of Emergence - the emergence of time, 2019

i. Entropy is increasing

I think a lot about Bruce Lee when I swim. I think about form and shape and water, often with his voice speaking in my head “Be water my friend.”

A good swimmer knows not to push against the resistance of the water, but rather one adapts it. One adapts the flow and becomes the flow. It is no longer a body struggling to move forward in the water; it's a body that is carried by the water. (If you swim you will understand what I mean.)

A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall fifty-six years ago. Is it falling yet? Is it coming soon?

ii. Entropy will no longer be lower in the past

Memories: Among the countless memories I always think about the memory we share. A memory that we once lived in the mother’s womb, surrounded by water. The womb in which entropy is not lower in the past

We are swimming in a pool where entropy is lower in the past. “Be water my friend.”

A hard rain's a-gonna fall. It is going to overflow our pool. Fall, fall, fall until our pool becomes a lake. Fall, fall, fall, fall, until our lake becomes an ocean. The ocean of many
oceans that is contained in our mother’s womb.

iii. The two configurations that make entropy lower in the past are both particular and random

They are both particular when entropy is lower in the past.

They are both random when entropy is not lower in the past.

“Be water my friend.” It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall!
